About this tour
This is the Belgrade walk we would give a friend on their first day. It starts on Republic Square, follows Knez Mihailova, the pedestrian street that has been the city's main promenade for two centuries, and ends on the walls of Kalemegdan above the point where the Sava flows into the Danube.
Along the way the guide explains how a fortress fought over by empires became a park, why the old town looks the way it does, and where to eat and drink afterwards. Classic means a small group, a steady pace and time for questions. The afternoon departure reaches the confluence in the best light for most of the year.
